How To Get Ready for Your Fall Mini Session
Fall is one of the best times of year for photos; the colors, the vibes, and the crisp air make it the perfect backdrop. If you have booked a fall mini session, you may be wondering what to wear and how to prepare. I have you covered!
1. Choosing Outfits
Stick to neutrals and earthy tones: Think cream, beige, brown, olive, mustard, burgundy, or rust. These colors blend beautifully with fall leaves.
Avoid busy patterns: A small plaid or subtle texture looks great, stay away from logos & neon color they can be distracting in photos!
do not match: Instead of everyone wearing the same shirt, pick 2–3 colors and mix them throughout your family’s outfits.
2. Layers Work Best
Fall weather can be tricky—sometimes chilly, sometimes warm. Adding cardigans, scarves, or vests not only keeps you warm but also adds depth and style to your photos.
3. Think About Shoes
Since sessions are often outdoors, choose shoes you can walk in comfortably. Boots, flats, or clean sneakers work better than flip-flops or heels that sink into the grass.
4. Prepping the Kids
Bring a small snack or toy to keep little ones happy.
If your kids are shy, let them know it will be fun and quick. Mini sessions usually move fast, so we will keep them engaged.
5. Relax & Have Fun
The best photos come when you are comfortable and enjoy the moment. Do not stress if the kids are energetic; that is part of real family life, and it makes for the sweetest photos.
6. Timing is Everything
Lighting makes a huge difference! The most flattering photos are taken during golden hour that dreamy time just after sunrise or right before sunset, when the light is soft. If possible, plan your session around this time for the best results.
